Goodwin made her film debut in 2003, and her hair shows it! The actress played a supporting role in the Julia Roberts-starring film “Mona Lisa Smile.” The new actress wore her hair in an awkward almost-bowl cut. Here she is at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in early 2004.

Ginnifer Goodwin proves that hair can make or break your career.

The actress eased onto the scene in a series of small film roles in movies like “Mona Lisa Smile,” “Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!” and “Walk The Line,” as well as her role on the hit TV show “Big Love,” but she only really became an A-list star when she cut her hair into a chic pixie and starred in “He’s Not That Into You” in 2009.

In fact, Goodwin, 35, has vowed that she’ll never wear her hair long again.

“I really am super lazy and doing long hair, especially mine, is a big pain in the butt,” Goodwin told OMG! earlier this year.

“It’s filled with cowlicks and kinks and curls and frizz – and it was taking too much time in the morning. This honestly takes me two minutes,” she added.

She said that she wouldn’t grow out her hair for a role, either.

“I don’t ever need to – I can wear wigs on screen,” she said.

Goodwin currently stars in the fairy tale drama “Once Upon A Time.” She’ll also star as Jacqueline Kennedy in the upcoming TV movie “Killing Kennedy."

Although it was a small part, Goodwin earned critical praise for her turn as Johnny Cash’s first wife, Vivian, in the 2005 Oscar-winning drama “Walk the Line,” marking her as one to watch. She wore shoulder-length waves at a “Walk the Line” screening in 2005 – a vast improvement from the 2003 bowl cut.

Goodwin then grew out her hair and played the youngest of three wives in a polygamous Mormoan family in the HBO drama “Big Love” alongside fellow up-and-comer Amanda Seyfried. Here she is at a pre-Oscar benefit in 2006.

In 2009, Goodwin chopped her hair into a chic bob, and style watchers took notice. That same year, Goodwin also nabbed a starring role in the hit ensemble film “He’s Just Not That Into You,” holding her own alongside stars like Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson and Drew Barrymore.

Chopping her hair into a pixie was a career-defining moment for Ginnnifer Goodwin, whose hairstyle change corresponded with her move from supporting roles (“Mona Lisa Smile,” “Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!”) to lead parts (“He’s just Not That Into You”).

Goodwin seemed to fall in love with her pixie cut, as she’s basically kept the look – with a few variations – ever since. This chin-length, wavy bob is as long as she’s let it get since then. Here, Goodwin deviates from her pixie at the Country Music Association Awards in 2011.

Now, Goodwin consistently rocks her close-cut pixie in dramatic style moments, like this appearance at the 2012 Emmy Awards.

Goodwin’s pixie is also surprisingly versatile – she added piecey texture to the top and kept the sides short for her edgy appearance at the 2013 Met Ball.
