Amar'e Stoudemire graces the cover of White Wall Magazine this month.

The cover was a joint art project between the NBA star and Daniel Arsham both who participated in this art cover and worked together on creative direction for the cover, with Daniel Arsham shooting the cover. In the piece, Whitewall hosts the interview discussing how Amar'es love of art began, how he has now turned that love into a business through his contemporary art collecting company The Melech Collection, and Amar'e and Daniel's first art project together.

"When I got to New York, the friends that I was starting to be close with were major art collectors," Stoudemire says about his art collecting  "And they were constantly talking about art and the art world and the importance of it and recommended certain books for me to read. So I was expanding my knowledge on art. And it took about three years before I felt totally comfortable enough to be able to start taking collecting seriously. So I would say in about 2010 or so was when I really started collecting art, and that's when my education, as far as in the art world, really became legit."

"I wanted to curate an opportunity to give back to the community and make it intriguing, make it fun for the youth" he says about the project. "I figured why not bring in two of my passions basketball and art. So I thought of this name of "In the Paint." And me and my team STAT came up with an idea of how to involve both genres. We teamed up with the artists to figure out where they're from and where they want to give back. Whatever community they wanted to give back to we would travel there, I would bring in the NBA, and we would have the artists and the students have a good time painting, and the other half of the kids that are not painting at the time they'd being playing basketball. And then what I would do for my foundation is I would donate a check to that event space, that school, that community center, that church, whatever it is, and I'd give to that particular venue."
