Director Taika Waititi has promised to put his fresh spin on Marvel's upcoming movie "Thor: Ragnarok," which would star Australian actor Chris Hemsworth as the title character.

But in order to do so, Waititi needed some artistic freedom. Marvel CEO Kevin Feige gave it to Waititi without a second thought, and it's something the filmmaker appreciates.

"I think this is the most different Marvel movie to date and one of the biggest," Waititi told Polygon.

When asked what makes the movie unique, Waititi failed to provide a direct answer because the movie is still constantly changing.

"The plot has changed and the script has changed. There are buddy elements to it between Thor and the Hulk, but who knows what the final movie will look like," he said.

Whatever the case, it must be nice to be a part of Waititi's set because the director's first rule for his cast and crew is to let loose and have a lot of fun.

"If my actors aren't having a good time on set, then I'm doing something wrong," he said. "There needs to be a chemistry between characters on screen, and that comes from having chemistry on set. We're making movies. We should be having a lot of fun."

This is probably the reason why Hemsworth really batted to have Waititi direct the third installment for the "Thor" franchise.

"When I saw 'Boy,' I wanted to meet him [Taika] and then sought him out. When I met him, I said 'I want to work with you,' and then when this opportunity came up, it was just like 'yes.' This is exactly what I felt Thor the character needed and what the world needed," Hemsworth told Stuff.

When Marvel shortlisted Waititi along with several other potential directors, Hemsworth did not have a tough time choosing.

"His name came up among a handful of people and he was certainly the one I pointed to," he said. "But he got himself the job through true talent. But he had my vote."

"Thor: Ragnarok" will be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
