Legendary boxer, humanitarian and icon Muhammad Ali passed away on Friday, June 3. He was 74 years old.

According to CNN, Ali was surrounded by loved ones during the time of his death at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Ariz. Ali had been battling Parkinson's disease since 1984, however, it was a respiratory issue that sent the fighter to the hospital on Thursday, June 2, where he passed the next day.

Born Cassius Clay Jr. in 1942, Ali started his journey in the ring at just 12 years old and grew to become known as one of the greatest boxers of all time. He competed in 61 boxing matches, winning a total of 56.

Despite boxing being his initial claim to fame, it was Ali's philanthropic and humanity efforts that made him a household name worldwide.

Since his passing, many notorious fighters and athletes have been remembering Ali and his contributions to the world on Twitter and Instagram.
