The 2016 MTV Movie Awards took over Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif., on April 9, hosting dozens of celebrities for the star-studded event.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid stunned on the red carpet at the Saturday evening event and sported a killer Versace suit with a lacy Annie Bing bra peaking out from beneath her jacket. To accompany her enviable look, Hadid rocked a smoky eye with an unexpected pop of color -- neon yellow.

"We wanted to create a nod to Donatella Versace's signature black-rimmed eye -- but with a twist of neon yellow to make it punkier," explained Maybelline New York makeup artist Sarah Tanno in a press release.

To achieve Hadid's gorgeous fresh complexion, Tanno first applied Maybelline's Dream Velvet Foundation all over, then added Fit Me! Concealer in one shade lighter than Hadid's natural skin tone. Tanno added a touch of the concealer to Hadid's nose and under her eyes. Next, the Maybelline New York makeup artist dusted translucent Facestudio Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Powder to set the look.

To accentuate the model's gorgeous bone structure, Tanno applied Facestudio Master Contour Face Contouring Pro Palette in a deep to medium bronze in the hollows of Hadid's cheeks and temples. The blush was added to the apples of Hadid's cheeks, and Tanno finished it all off with a bit of highlighter along the tops of the model's cheekbones.

Tanno defined Hadid's eyebrows by tracing the arches with Eyestudio Brow Pomade Crayon in Blonde, then applied Eyestudio Brow Drama Mascara in Blonde to keep brow hairs in place.

For an eyelid base, Tanno first used Eyestudio Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Barely Beige before swiping liner along Hadid's waterline (Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in Soft Nude). For a subtle smoky effect, Tanno also lined the outer half of Hadid's top and lower lash lines with Eyestudio Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Charcoal Chrome. To create added dimension, Tanno then blended a matte black shade into the model's crease (The Rock Nudes Palette) before applying the shock of neon yellow pigment across the top and inner corners of Hadid's eyelids.

For the pièce de résistance, two coats of black mascara finished off the smoldering eye look (Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara in Blackest Black).

Since all eyes would be on Hadid's dramatic gaze, Tanno decided to complement the eye look with a full, nude matte pout.

"Gigi loves a nude lip and I wanted it to last all night," Tanno stated. The artist lined and filled the model's lips with Color Sensational Lip Liner in Nude before finally applying multiple layers of Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid in Nude Thrill and Color Sensational The Buffs Lipstick in Bare All.
