St. Patrick's Day Manicure: Create Sham-rockin' Nail Art From Mars the Salon

Looking for a creative way to sport green this St. Patrick's Day? Add a little pizzazz to your nail color and try some festive nail art from MARS the Salon.

The Sham-rockin' design, created by owner Hiroko Fujikawa, is the perfect way to get you into the spirit of this holiday. The design featuring shamrocks, stripes and polka dots in all different hues is sure to bring you the Luck of the Irish on March 17.  

Follow Fujikawa's step-by-step techniques below.

 


 

1. Apply a base coat

2. Apply Essie "Blanc" to the thumb, middle and pinky finger.

3. Apply Essie "Shake Your Maker" to the index finger creating a straight French line.

4. Apply Essie "The More the Merrier" on the ring finger creating a straight French line.

5. Using a thin paint brush, draw a diamond shape with Essie " The More the Merrier" on the thumb

6. Using a thin paint brush, draw a diamond shape with Essie "Shake Your Maker" next to the diamond you drew in step 5.

7. Using a thin paint brush, draw a diamond shape with Essie "Fashion Playground" on the other side of the diamond you drew in step 5.

8. Using a toothpick and Essie "Loophole" draw three thin diagonal lines on the center of the diamonds.

9. Using a toothpick and Essie "Loophole" draw three parallel diagonal lines to the ones in step 8. Connect the lines to create diamond shapes.

10. Using a ball point pen and Essie "The More the Merrier", "Blanc" and "Fashion Playground," draw three large dots on top of the index finger.

11. Using a toothpick and Essie "Shake Your Maker," "Blanc" and "Fashion Playground" draw crosses on top of the large dots

12. Using a thin paint brush and Essie "Shake Your Maker" draw thick stripes on the middle finger. Using Essie "The More the Merrier" draw thin stripes in between the thick ones on the middle finger.

13. Using a toothpick and Essie "Fashion Playground" draw dots on top of the ring finger.

14. Using Cina Silver Nail striping tape, attach straight lines at the bottom of the color portion on the index and ring fingers.

15. Using a thin paint brush and Essie "Shake Your Maker" draw four small petals at the bottom and middle of the pinky finger to create two clovers.

16. Using a thin paint brush and Essie "Fashion Playground" draw two small petals at the side of the nail and top of the nail to create the illusion of the clovers.

17. Using a thin paint brush and Essie "The More the Merrier" draw two small petals at the other side of the nail and at the top of the nail to create the illusion of clovers.

18. Apply a top coat.
