"Dancing with the Stars" pro Derek Hough is not returning to the ABC reality dance series for season 22, he announced on Instagram.

Hough is reportedly taking a break after his season 21 win with Bindi Irwin to perform in the Weinstein Company's "Singin' In The Rain" on Broadway, according to CNN.

The 30-year-old posted on Instagram that he was thrilled to be a part of the upcoming Broadway production of the iconic musical starring his dance idol, Gene Kelly.

Hough joined "Dancing with the Stars" in season five.

He only missed season of the show, back in 2012.

The dance pro eventually returned to the series and opted out of season 20 as Hough signed to star in the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.

Again Hough chose to return to the series and commuted back and forth from New York to Hollywood to allow him to compete with Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin.

Hough later dropped out of the season after a foot injury forced him to withdraw from the competition temporarily.

The 30-year-old dancer decided to "take a break" from the dance show for season 22 to fulfill his Broadway dream, as did his sister Julianne Hough, who departed her post at the judge's table.

"I think she did three great seasons, and it's time for her to go," Hough explained to Entertainment Tonight.

"She's got great things on the horizon, and she's doing great things. Len [Goodman]'s coming back, and so, you know, I think four judges feels a little redundant anyways, so I think it's the right thing to do," said Hough.

Said Julianne Hough of her departure from the ballroom, "I will miss being on the panel for Season 22, but have a lot of exciting stuff coming that I look forward to sharing," Hough told Entertainment Tonight.

"The pro dancers, producers and crew at 'DWTS' will always be my family. I promise it's not the last you'll see of me in the ballroom," Hough commented.

Dance pro-Edyta Sliwinska will be returning to the ballroom for the first time in several years to fill the gap left by Hough, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.

"Dancing with the Stars" returns to ABC on March 21 at 8 p.m. EST.
