Benedict Cumberbatch may be engaged.
The British Sun-Times reported on June 15, 2013 that Benedict Cumberbatch and his girlfriend were seen shopping for engagement rings, according to Media Mass.
“He’s madly in love with her,” a source said, adding that the relationship is “heating up.”
The “Star Trek” actor’s rep did not deny the rumor, saying “no comment” when asked if Cumberbatch, 36, is engaged.
But if the rumors are true, just who is Cumberbatch getting engaged to? Cumberbatch is not in a public relationship, though he’s been linked to several women.
The Daily Mail reports that Cumberbatch split from actress Olivia Pulet in 2011 and then had a year-long romance with fashion designer Anna Jones. He’s also been linked to actress Liv Tyler and model Lydia Hearst.
We know that Cumberbatch wants to settle down.
“I sort of have a clock ticking,” he said in an earlier interview. “I’d like to be a dad before I’m 40.”
“One of his regrets is that he hasn’t found someone to settle down with,” said his half-sister, Tracy Tabernacle, 58.
“I think they would have to be someone not in the acting profession. Someone who was happy to hold the fort while he went off and pursued his career.”
Cumberbatch certainly has plenty of fans who would be happy to fill that role; however, he’s said that he’s confused by his status as a sex symbol.
“I’m still processing this strange misperception,” he told the Sun last month.
“I suppose I’ll have to find a way to deal with the strain. I enjoy being considered handsome, even though I think it’s hysterical.”
“Work-wise, it builds a momentum, which means I’ve got the most fantastic opportunities — or at least, doors open to prove myself at the next level, and that attention has been a huge help. As long as it helps me find good roles, my response is, ‘Bring it on!’”© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
