'Dancing With The Stars' Julianne Hough Shocking Exit: Why She's Leaving Series In Season 22?

Julianne Hough has revealed that she will not be returning as a judge when "Dancing with the Stars" begins its 22nd season.

Hough, who served as a judge during seasons 20 and 21 - will not be returning to the panel for the next season of the reality dance competition.

"I will miss being on the panel for Season 22, but have a lot of exciting stuff coming that I look forward to sharing," Hough remarked to People Magazine.

"The pro dancers, producers and crew at 'DWTS' will always be my family," she shared to the magazine in a statement.

"I promise it's not the last you'll see of me in the ballroom," concluded the former pro dancer and mirror ball winner.

Returning to the judging table are Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tolioni, who will be joined once again be joined by head judge Len Goodman, who left the series after season 20.

Reportedly Goodman could not handle the commuting between the U.K. and the States several times a week as a judge for both "DWTS" and "Strictly Come Dancing."

The show's Executive Producer Rob Wade said in a statement to People Magazine, "Julianne will always be a part of the Dancing with the Stars family and we hope to see her back in the ballroom in the future."

Hough is riding a personal career high after scoring big as Sandy in Fox's recent "Grease Live."

She also recently became engaged to professional hockey player Brooks Laich and appeared in the Zac Efron film "Dirty Grandpa."

Hough has departed from the show previously.

She took off season eight and nine as a pro dancer to concentrate on her film career.

During that time she starred in the films "Burlesque," "Footloose" and "Rock of Ages."

Besides Hough's departure, there have been rumors that the future of "DWTS" favorites Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and Sharna Burgess hang in the balance.

There is also no confirmation if show host Erin Andrews will be returning to the ballroom for season 22 as well.

According to Gossip Cop, a representative for "Dancing with the Stars" confirmed that there is still no confirmed date yet for the cast reveal, so it's unclear at this point which pros will be back to the ballroom as well.

"Dancing with the Stars" season 22 will premiere March 21 at 8 p.m. EST ABC.
