Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed new details about her upcoming shoe collection.
British Vogue reports that the collection has been designed in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus and will include handbags and trench coats along with shoes.
"I don't like a shoe to be too shiny. Sometimes it loses its chicness," Parker, 48, said.
"That's why suede is so nice - it takes colour so beautifully as opposed to calf."
Parker’s collection will mix her own personal style with influences from her career and childhood, including grosgrain because she "grew up having to wear grosgrain hair ribbons every day."
Parker also explained her experience as a shoe enthusiast – most of it from her years as Carrie on “Sex and the City.”
"I've spent so much time in shoes now. I really feel like I have an advantage. I was in heels sometimes 18 to 20 hours a day on set [of Sex and the City]," she said.
"I never took them off, but I wasn't in pain. I had been a ballet dancer so I don't know, maybe I prepped my feet with pointe shoes."
"We thought [about the metropolitan New York woman],” Parker added.
“A beautiful coat, bag and pair of shoes - they all kind of go together. It seemed tight. It didn't seem like we were trying to sell a bunch of junk to people," she said.
"I grew up in a house where my mother had beautiful taste. She had no financial means, but she did her best. She would go to church tag sales in wealthy neighborhoods and find all the beautiful navy blue Vuitton suits that the families had grown out of and donated to the church.
“We were raised seeing a lot of beauty and understanding what a well-made dress was."
The Sarah Jessica Parker collection will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom beginning in January 2014.© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
