(Photo : Facebook/Mr. Robot) Here are some of the things fans can expect from "Mr. Robot" season 2.

The first season of "Mr. Robot" was unsettling to watch at times, but series co-creator Sam Esmail warns that the upcoming installment of the show will be darker.

In an interview with Esquire, Esmail teased: "That's the one thing that's been kind of hard going into this second season, because if we want to be honest to where Elliot was at the end of the first season, it's not a light and sunny place. Now that we are aware of his [mental health] issues, Elliot has to address them."

Esmail also teased that Elliot (Rami Malek) thought his agenda was fulfilled after erasing people's debts and jeopardizing Evil Corp.'s records but there will be more trouble for him when the show returns.

"We see in the coda with that scene between WhiteRose and Phillip Price that there are larger forces at play," Esmail said. "As always."

Esmail also told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming season will focus on Elliot's backstory and give an insight into why he formed fsociety.

"There will be a lot more backstory that will be shown, the timeline will get a little clearer - not 100 percent clear, because where's the fun in that? But a little clearer," the producer said. "It really is about Elliot trying to reconcile what this means in seeing Mr Robot."

Esmail, who is set to direct all 10 upcoming episodes of the show, added: "The series is filling in the blanks of the past and the present of this character ... It's about a guy who becomes aware of this delusion he's been having."

While Esmail was generous enough to give an overview of what fans can expect in the upcoming season, he kept mum about the fate of Evil Corp. executive Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallstrom), who went missing in the show's finale.

"Mr. Robot" will return on air in the summer, but a premiere date has yet to be announced.
