Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge, Thighbrow: Most Popular Instagram Trends And Hashtags Of 2015

Trends come and go, but some become memorable.

Several catchy fads, crazes and hashtags went viral this year. In fact, many of the online movements spread like wildfire on Instagram.

Let's take a look at some of the photo app's most popular 2015 trends, which several celebrities supported on their accounts.

What is this hashtag, you ask?

Thighbrow refers to the visible skin roll at the top front of your thighs when sitting, kneeling or bending forward.

Several female stars gave the best thighbrow pictures to the world in 2015. Most noticeably, the unofficial first family of social media -- the Kardashian sisters -- stepped up their thighbrow game. They showed the body feature off with high-cut swimwear during the summer. Check out the photo below!

Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Candice Swanepoel proved that they could "brow" with the best of them too.

Whip and Nae Nae

New rapper Silento hit the music scene in 2015, ushering in one of the craziest dances of the year!

The Whip and Nae Nae dance became a hit after the lyricist featured it in his "Watch Me" music video in April. It seemed like kids and adults everywhere were jumping onto the Whip wagon.

Also, stars such as Ciara, Russell Wilson and Jimmy Kimmel hilariously "whipped and nae naed" on video.

The "Dancing With The Stars" cast even did the dance. Check out the Instagram clip below!

Lip Plumping

Ladies wanted a more plumper pout this year.

Most noticeably, Kylie Jenner re-invented her lips. She flooded her Instagram account with several selfies showing off her mouth.

However, lip plumping got out of hand when the hashtag #KylieJennerlipchallenge spread in April. Teenage girls disturbingly stuck their lips in shot glasses and sucked air inside the glass to get fuller (painfully swollen) lips.

Jenner was against the dangerous fad and publicly expressed her concern. She wanted to "encourage young girls" to be themselves.

The reality TV star eventually turned her plumping popularity into profit with lip kits, which arrived in December.

But no amount of idolization could not stop other celebrities from giving Jenner a run for her money.

Stars such as Zendaya, Selena Gomez and Shay Mitchell gave great lip service on Instagram too. These celebrities were all about the duck face -- expression referring to those with open-mouthed pouts showing some teeth -- in 2015.

Several celebrity instagrammers posted videos from Dubsmash, a mobile app allowing users to create "short selfie videos dubbed with famous sounds" that launched last November.

Rihanna, Olivia Wilde, Kate Upton, Adam Levine, Kevin Hart and more sang along to several songs in their Dubsmash clips. Check out a video below!

This Dubsmash thing looks quite addictive, huh?

Giant Letter Balloons

Khloe Kardashian, Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon were just a few out of dozens who showed off giant letter balloons on Instagram.

It seems that stars used the inflated balloons for every special occasion. Whether a party, barbecue or something else, these decorations were front and center.

Paris Love

Many social media users showed support for victims of the Paris terrorist attack and tragedy in November. Stars such as Ciara, Madonna and Justin Bieber spread their love for those affected with #PrayforParis hashtag. Also, celebrities posted a photo of the Eiffel Tower embedded in a peace sign.

My love prayers and thoughts are with the families of this horrible tragedy. #prayforparis A photo posted by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on
