Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly planning a baby shower the day before Princess Diana’s birthday in remembrance of Prince William’s late mother.
Now magazine reports that Prince William, 30, and Kate Middleton, 31, want to remember Princess Diana as they prepare for the birth of their first child.
They are reportedly planning a baby shower at Kensington Palace, planned by Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton, 29, on Sunday, June 30. Diana’s birthday was June 31.
The guest list will include Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Pippa Middleton and James Middleton. Events planner Pippa has reportedly asked James, who runs a baking company, to create a cake in the shape of a pacifier while she’s been gathering goodie bags with candles and gifts from shops including Jo Malone and the White Company.
Kate will be the first member of the Royal Family to have a baby shower.
“It isn't royal tradition but Kate isn't a traditional royal. She is modern and wants a modern life,” a source told Now.
“A baby shower wouldn't normally happen if you're in the Royal Family, but there is now a modern way of thinking.”
But it’s all okay – the Queen reportedly approves.
“Prince Harry, Kate and William are the Royal Family's younger generation,” a source said.
“It will be a great day for everyone and Kate is doing this with the blessing of the Queen.”
