"Fifty Shades Darker" fans are wondering what actors or actresses may join the cast for the upcoming film adaptation. One of the big names that keeps coming up is Alexis Bledel, who has been a fan favorite from the beginning, but not for the role you think!

Bledel, who is best known for her work on "Gilmore Girls" and "Mad Men," is a fan-favorite pick to play Leila Williams.

In the book, the character of Leila Williams is a mentally disturbed young woman who was the long-term submissive of Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) until he met Anastasia Steele.

Williams is a confused younger woman who needed Grey for guidance as much as he needed her to fulfill his physical needs. In the book, Leila confesses to Anastasia in a pivotal scene that "Master is dark, he likes girls that look like us."

Fans have already noted how much they would like Bledel as Leila, believing she could bring an air of sophistication to the troubled young woman.

However, fans of E.L. James' book series initially wanted the "Gilmore Girls" star to take on a larger role.

Support for Bledel to join the "Fifty Shades Of Grey" production began as early as 2013 when a Change.org petition created by an anonymous fan swelled to thousands of cosigners in a matter of hours. The petition called for the film's production team rethink their casting decisions for the lead roles.

The petition asked for Bledel and Matt Bomer to portray the titular characters of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

Both Bomer and Bledel were aware of the incessant fans demanding to see them on screen, and expressed that they were "flattered,"

"People definitely do have strong opinions about it," Bledel told Elle magazine in 2014. "I guess when people really identify with a concept, they feel strongly about it."

Do you think Alexis Bledel could make a convincing Leila Williams in "Fifty Shades Darker"? Let us know by participating in the poll below.
