Get ready to rock!

The Outside Lands Festival kicks off in San Francisco this Friday and runs through Sunday. The festival will feature over 70 artists on six stages spread throughout Golden Gate Park.

Headlining this year's festival is Elton John, Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, The Black Keys and Mumford & Sons. Other standouts include Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Wilco, St. Vincent, D'Angelo and The Vanguard, Milky Chance, Hot Chip, The Drums, Cold War Kids, Billy Idol, Slightly Stoopid, Sky Ferreira, ODESZA and many more.

Heading to Golden Gate Park this weekend? Check out the survival guide below to make the most of your Outside Lands experience.

1. Don't Lose Your Wristband!

This year, the festival sold out in just 45 minutes. In an attempt to combat Craiglist creeps and other scalpers, promoters ditched the paper tickets and introduce RFID (radio frequency identification) wristbands for everyone attending the festival.

You must keep your wristband on the entire time, no exceptions. These wristbands also do much more than just fend off scammers and gain you entry; festival attendees can also load them with money and use them as a form of cashless payment system in the Wine Lands area.

2. Eat, Drink And Be Merry In Between The Music

Dubbed the "world's only gourmet rock festival," over 78 restaurants, 38 wineries, 32 breweries and 10 cocktail bars from California will be serving up local delectables and pouring some of the region's finest each day.

Speaking of The Wine Lands area, it has been relocated this year to Lindley Meadow and will feature food trucks, a three-hole miniature golf course and of course, wine tasting.

If beer is more your style, head to the Beer Lands for a biergarten vibe or hit up the GastroMagic Stage, which pairs star chefs with rock stars.

3. Make a Music Plan

With six stages and over 70 artists, choosing who you want to see can be a bit overwhelming. But with just a little bit of early planning, you can maximize your Outside Lands experience.

Download the Outside Lands app and always have a list of who is playing where handy and discuss your plan with your festival buddies ahead of time.

But the best advice when it comes to planning? Allow yourself to stray from it. If you happen to walk by a stage on the way to something else and you are digging the vibe, stay and hang out. You never know, you might discover your new favorite band.

4. Take The Time To Laugh

Named in honor of San Francisco's infamous Barbary Coast district and residing in a venue inspired by the world famous Victoria Spiegeltent, the vaudeville-style tent known as The Barbary will feature the top names in comedy, storytelling, improv and general weirdness.

Located in SoPo or South of the Polo Fields, be sure to catch members of The Daily Show, Tig Notaro, Jen Kirkman, Pete Holmes and more.
