Star Wars Episode 7 Plot, Rumors, Cast Revealed: Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo? New Details, Filming in Britain

New rumors are saying that Joseph Gordon-Levitt could be replacing Harrison Ford as Han Solo in J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars Episode 7." Other details emerged for the 2015 movie cast.

According to E! Online, sources close to the Disney project said that the film "will be based on an original story-in other words, not from any of the many books, comics or graphic novels that have supplemented the sweeping story."

This could mean that "Star Wars" may see a younger version of Ford's Han Solo in the new movie.

Gordon-Levitt is a big possibility for the role. DigitalSpy chose "The Dark Knight" actor to play Han Solo in a proposed standalone movie, so that means fans also wouldn't mind him in "Episode 7."

Other huge fan-favorites for Han Solo are "Castle" star Nathan Fillion, James Franco, Tom Hardy, and Ryan Gosling.

"Castle" star Nathan Fillion is a favorite for the role of Han Solo in "Star Wars."

Ford may come back though. He's staying silent on the whole thing, but Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that the main three, including Han Solo (Harrison Ford previously) would be coming back, according to ScreenCrush. Mark Hamill recently revealed that he will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker.

While we are trying to figure out the casting part of the new movie, new details emerged about where filming will take place.

According to, the newest installment of the beloved "Star Wars" franchise would shoot in Britain, where filming on all six of the previous films took place.

"We've devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of 'Star Wars' as inspiration for our process on the new movie, and I'm thrilled that returning to the U.K. for production and utilizing the incredible talent there can be a part of that," said Kennedy.

The Sun previously reported that the "Star Wars" movie would be filmed in Scotland for some of the scenes, some in the Highlands and the Isle of Skye.

"Location bosses feel Scotland possesses stunning scenery perfect for movie backdrops," a source said. "They will look great on the big screen and the rock formations will replicate the perception of mountainous planets. It will be the first time Star Wars has ever been shot north of the border."
