Katy Perry is launching her third fragrance, “Killer Queen,” she announced on Thursday.
On May 2, the star tweeted, “I have something very exciting to reveal to you later today… Stay tuned!!!”
True to her word, Katy Perry, 28, followed up that day with a new tweet: “Ok! I have been working on my third fragrance for over a year & want to unveil the look NOW! What do u think?!”
She tweeted a photo of the perfume, a glamorous, scepter-like bottle with a ruby-shaped glass for the orange-red liquid [PHOTO ABOVE].
“Just had an elegant unveiling of my new fragrance KILLER QUEEN at the Duke! Can’t wait to share the royal juice! #sosophisticated,” Perry tweeted later, adding a photo of her elaborate manicure, red nails embellished with gold decals. She wrote, “Tonight’s killer mani to match!”
According to MTV Style, Perry held a fragrance launch in New York that same day, wearing a white and red Thom Browne dress adorned with huge roses. Billboard adds that Perry launched the perfume on a throne at the James B. Duke Mansion, adorning herself with Lorraine Schwartz bracelets, Davis Yurman rings, and sparkly earrings for a “royal look.”
A scent palette for the new perfume has not yet been released. Perry’s first fragrance, Purr, was released in 2010 and had a full-bodied, sweet and fruity scent. Perry’s second fragrance, Meow, had a lighter, powdery vanilla scent and was released in 2011. Both perfumes were shades of purple and came in cat-shaped bottles, making Killer Queen a major departure.
Killer Queen is the result of a collaboration between Perry and beauty manufacturer Coty and is her first fragrance for the brand, reports Billboard. The collaboration was launched in November 2012, with Perry saying that the fragrance was in development and almost finished.
“We are thrilled to have an artist as creative and talented as Katy Perry join us at Coty,” Coty Beauty president Renato Semerari said at the time. “Katy is original and daring – her unique approach to music and life will serve as the inspiration behind her innovative new scents and allow us to explore new avenues of scent creation.”© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved.
