A.J. Clemente, a.k.a. fired anchor, appeared on the David Letterman show and is getting a second chance as an anchor after getting fired by NBC for cursing on air.
He told Letterman on the show, "I went home, crawled in bed and called my parents," Clemente said. "But the next day, you gotta pick yourself up, you gotta laugh at yourself and keep going."
But good news came right after.
According to USA Today, AJ Clemente, the now-famous fired anchor, was offered a job as a celebrity correspondent while making an appearance on "Live With Kelly and Michael" on Wednesday.
Michael Strahan said to Clemente, "One thing about New Yorkers, we believe in giving second chances, man. Yesterday, we called for you. You came here today. (Applause) So, we have a challenge for you if you're willing to accept it. We're going to send you to cover the star-studded red-carpet premiere of Pierce Brosnan's new movie, Love Is All You Need."
Ripa said: "Now, should you choose to accept this mission, your job is to interview all the celebrities that you can and bring the tape back to us here tomorrow. Are you up for it? What do you think?"
Clemente agreed. "Yeah," he said, adding, "yeah, definitely."
Clemente is famously known for saying "f****** s***" while on his first job as an anchor at KYFR in Bismarck, North Dakota.
On his Twitter, Clemente tweeted on April 22, "Unfortunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go. Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support."
The fired anchor explained to Strahan and Ripa that he had "no idea" he was live when he was cursing.
His co-host "happened to be looking at the teleprompter, I happened to be looking down. I'm going over the London marathon winner's name. ... That was what tripped me. I'm still not going to pronounce it."
