Another Christian Dior dress is cause controversy over whether a celebrity had a wardrobe malfunction or whether it was just the design of the gown.
On this occasion, the gown in question is a bright yellow Christian Dior dress that Marion Cotillard wore to BAFTA awards. While the "La Vie en Rose" star walked down the red carpet, her upper thigh was clearly visible, through what appeared to be a rip in the seams of the dress. EW reported that the UK Daily News wrote that Cotillard, "almost managed to reveal her derriere."
It turns out that the star's outfit was being displayed exactly the way it was meant to be. Cotillard's Dior dress looked no different from when it was displayed on the runway at the designer's Spring/Summer Couture 2013 show in Paris. The supposed rip is just part of the design of a dress that is by no means easily made. According to the report, the "couture dress is the product of hundreds of hours of work by a team of skilled seamstresses, and often comes with a 5-figure price tag."
Cotillard's assumed wardrobe malfunction comes just a month after Jennifer Lawrence was assumed to have the same problem. Lawrence's Dior dress appeared to rip from the actress' waist to her knees when she stood up to accept a SAG award. However, a dior rep told EW, "The dress is made with different levels of tulle and satin and that is what the viewers saw when Jennifer lifted her dress slightly. It was not ripped and there was no malfunction... it was the design of the gown."
Looks like everyone's going to have to just get accustomed to Christian Dior's latest style in which stars appear to have wardrobe malfunctions.
