After weeks of anticipation of a Destiny's Child reunion at the Super Bowl, there are now reports that Beyonce may take on the half time show solo.
According former Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams, the divas' conflicting schedules may prevent them from performing together anytime soon. The news of the girl group reuniting was all gossip in the first place; none of the band members ever really confirmed or denied the story. It was assumed that the rumor was fact since the group released their new track "Nuclear." What better way to promote the new song than with a reunion performance at a convenient event - Beyonce's Super Bowl half time performance?
"Unfortunately, I honestly can't say," Williams told MTV News on Thursday when asked about their rumored reunion next weekend.
"Just thinking about it gives me a headache. It seems quite impossible because of our own individual schedules," she added. "My opening night for 'Fela!' is January 30. I've been in rehearsals for that, so I haven't had time to think about learning anything else."
Fans are expecting Williams and Kelly Rowland to join Beyonce on stage halfway through her Super Bowl performance on February 3 in New Orleans. According to an alleged leaked set list, the ladies will perform their old school classics "Survivor" and "Bills, Bills, Bills" as well as their new single "Nuclear." Williams also shared how excited Beyonce was to work with her old pals again. "Man, we sound good together!" Beyonce wrote in an email to Williams.
Although Williams somewhat denied that Super Bowl rumors, she does give DC fans hope for the future. "But who knows? Maybe sometime in the future, five or 10 years from now, we'll see," she said about a possible reunion.
Whether or not the ladies will surprise fans with a Super Bowl performance, Destiny's Child lovers can get their fix with the group's new album "Love Songs" which drops January 29. Williams opened up about how she and the other girls picked out the 13 tracks for the album. "I think what was harder for them was to go back even before I got in the group, to the archive from when they were 12 and 13 years old, singing about love," she said. "I think it might've been a little more difficult for them to choose those songs, but it really was fun. I was cracking up when we were compiling the artwork and we could tell which pictures were good budget, low budget, records sold, not that many sold."
Rumors of Beyonce going forward solo also sparked from the singer's latest Instagram photos. The "Single Ladies" singer uploaded photos of her dance rehearsal - no DC members were in sight.
Perhaps the ladies are trying to throw us all off just to surprise us at the show. Williams kept pokerfaced throughout her interview and Beyonce, as usual, hasn't addressed the topic. Hopefully Rowland will open up to the press about the rumor.
