Before Selena Gomez broke up with Justin Bieber, the "Spring Breakers" starlet was still dreaming of a happy ending with her boyfriend of two years in their "fairy tale" romance.
Gomez gushed about Bieber in the February issue of NYLON, which will hit the newsstands on Jan. 29.
"I'm having fun," the 20-year-old singer and actress said.
"At the end of the day, love is such a normal thing, and everyone deals with it. Just because it's a different lifestyle doesn't change the meaning of what I've been raised on, which is fairy tales."
But she had to learn some real life lessons before her interview came to public - there is an end to everything, just like any fairy tale.
However, the "Love You Like a Love Song" singer has a gal pal to share her feelings. Gomez and fellow singer Taylor Swift have just gone through high profile splits and had to appear in public amidst the turbulence in their personal life.
Swift recently broke up with Harry Styles, her boyfriend of two months.
"We both experienced the same things at the same time," Gomez said of Swift.
"But we've never once talked about our industry. She just became the person I'd go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend. It's so hard to trust girls, so I'm lucky to have her."
The power couples even enjoyed a double date ski trip in Utah last month. Ironically Jelena and Haylor ended up sharing the same fate. The Canadian heartthrob and the British boy band star may as well bond over their heartbreak to be best friends.
In the new film "Spring Breakers," in which Gomez costars with BFF Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson, as well as James Franco, the former Disney starlet had many lessons to learn, doing things "that I would get so much hate and in trouble for," Selena confessed.
"I had to have someone show me how to hold the cigarette."
"I definitely felt that with my first stepping-out role, I should choose something that I could understand a little more. I was really nervous, but Harmony took a chance with me," Gomez said of the film's director Harmony Korine.
"He said, 'You live in this bubble, and I'm going to take you out of it, but you have to trust me.'"
The brunette beauty also warned of the racy contents of the film.
"I've told parents, 'Make sure you don't let your kids see Spring Breakers,' because with the title, you could think it would be cute or something," Gomez said.
"I know it isn't for the younger generation I have following me, but I'm also about to be 21. I felt like it was my little side project that I was super excited about, that would be under the radar."
Now that Selena is growing up, her split from Bieber is seen by many as a positive influence, including her mother.
“Selena and her mother are super close, and she doesn’t want Selena held back by Justin and all this drama. Her mom always thought the relationship was troubled. Selena has cut off Justin. She told him they can remain friends but she needs space for a while to get over him fully," a friend of Gomez told Perez Hilton.© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved.
