Anne Hathaway showed her commitment to vegan shoes at the New York premiere of Les Misérables, by sporting a custom-made gladiator dominatrix boots by Tom Ford.

Tom Ford specially created a vegan version of his spring 2013 bondage-sandal boots for the famously vegan actress, using leather-free materials.

In the film, Hathaway's character Fantine only wore vegan shoes that were custom made to accommodate the hard-core vegan movie star.

“[Hathaway]‘s vegan, so we couldn’t use any animal materials on the shoes for her character Fantine,” costume designer Paco Delgado told Footwear News. “We had to find very specific shoemakers to create lace-up boots and ankle boots.”

"We also did flats that were much more sophisticated," he added.
