Brad Pitt sizzles in hot new role as the zombie fighting family man who plans to save the world. The much anticipated "World War Z" trailer has finally been released and at a time when many are questioning the Mayan's 2012 prophecy, it safe to say this movie will be a hit - that is, if the world makes it to June 2013 to see it.

The trailer opens with Pitt's character, UN employee Gerry Lane, sitting in a car with his wife, played by "The Killing" star Mireille Enos, and his two daughters. The small family was stuck in New York City traffic playing a guessing game when suddenly the city turned into a catastrophe.

Pitt and his family move their way through the city dodging ravenous zombies and fiery destruction as millions of humans get destroyed. The film's theme seems to be "survival of the fittest," as our hero Pitt is assumed to be the only character to make it through the zombie apocalypse.

"Is anyone doing better than we are?" Pitt asked an official.

"We don't know," the man replies.

A population counter shows that across the world, the number of humans is dramatically decreasing.

The screen pans and we see the city in complete turmoil as hordes of undead monsters run through the streets.

The sexy actor is armed with guns and jumps from helicopters and buildings, saving his family from destruction and then eventually facing the battle against the flesh-eating creatures alone.

The zombies in the film are quite ambiguous, as their face is never shown. We don't see the ugly, scary, pale zombies that we usually see in other movies. From what is shown the monsters look like regular human beings. But because the film is an adaption of the book by zombie author Max Brooks and the "Z" obviously stands for "zombie," there is no doubt that the villainous beings are undead.

Zombies are the new vampires for next year's summer. "World War Z" hits theaters in June 21, 2013.
