Demi Lovato turned back to being a brunette after sporting blonde hair for a few months and debuted the new look on Wednesday night's first X Factor live show.

Demi Lovato debuted a new brunette 'do on Wednesday night's first X Factor live show. The singer kept her bangs, which she cut this summer, and wore her hair straight and down.

"It's coming to fall and it's harder to maintain a healthy skin tone, and when you're going into winter it just sucks out the color of everyone," Lovato told reporters after Thursday night's X Factor. "So I tend to go dark during the holidays; it's a nice contrast. There's one thing about being blonde and pale, but I would rather be dark and pale."

Lovato, a natural brunette, has tried a lot of looks in the past 12 months, from pink hair and blue tips to blonde locks and a bright-red 'do.

"She's a chameleon - she can do anything with her hair and makeup," her makeup artist, Jill Powell, recently told PEOPLE. "She likes to change her look a lot - it's fantastic. She embraces new trends."

Lovato and One Direction's Niall Horan can't stop talking about each other.

The former Disney star and the British band singer may have dismissed their dating rumors, but the world is still very much eager to see the duo's relationship status develop.

"Demi's told the guys backstage she and Niall are loosely dating - it's casual but they are definitely dating, albeit long-distance," a source told The Mirror earlier this week.

But when Lovato graced the cover of Teen Vogue's November issue, she once again declared that she and Horan aren't in a romantic relationship.

"And of course, there is the matter of those pesky 1D rumors," Lovato told the magazine.

Even though the 20-year-old starlet had admitted that she had a "little crush" on Niall, she told Teen Vogue,

"He's a really awesome, sweet guy. But he's not my boyfriend."

On Teen Vogue, Lovato looks stunning in floral outfits by Marc Jacobs and Topshop, completing the feminine look with a fishtail braid and peachy blush.
