Actor Brad Pitt has teamed up with furniture maker Frank Pollaro to design about a dozen pieces of furniture which will be unveiled this month.
Actor Brad Pitt has decided to take up a new venture and this one is quite a peculiar one. The actor has decided to give furniture designing a try, reports the latest issue of Architectural Digest. According to the report, Pitt has teamed up with furniture maker Frank Pollaro to design a new collection of furniture which would consist of a dozen pieces including tables, chairs, and "one rather fantastic bed".
The unveiling of the new collection is scheduled to take place November 13 through 15 in New York and has been years in the making. "I've been doodling ideas for buildings and furniture since the early 1990s, when I first discovered [Charles Rennie] Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright," says Pitt. "Actually, I found Wright in college, when looking for a lazy two-point credit to get out of French. It forever changed my life."
Pitt becomes the first male star to endorse a female perfume as he signs a $7 million deal to be the face of Chanel No.5's new advertising campaign. "To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view," Andrea d'Avack, president of Chanel Fragrance & Beauty, told WWD. "It is the first time we've had a man speaking about a women's fragrance."
Pitt signed on with the label in May to do a commercial and print ad for the legendary fragrance.
D'Avack continued, "We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level."
Pitt's $7 million gig featured him performing a dramatic monologue, which left most viewers more tickled than they were touched.
