New York City woke up to massive flooding on Tuesday morning. Hurricane Sandy left several subway systems under water, cars submerged in the floods, and thousands of people without power.

NYC's sky high buildings were no match for the strong high winds. The lower east side has one of the most severe flood damage. The Financial District is closed for a second day due to the massive flooding. The Wall Street Journal reports that at least 50 flooded homes in Queens caught fire and were destroyed; about only 25 people were rescued from an upstairs apartment.
