Karl Lagerfeld's hula hoop Chanel bag is still the talk of the town. While plenty of us fear actually walking around with the massive ring of a bag, trendsetting style icon Alexa Chung braves the outrageous accessory...sort of.

Host of his show "Anderson," Anderson Cooper gifted the model-turned-TV personality with her own bespoke hula hoop bag. It wasn't Chanel; it was an Anderson Cooper original. The makeshift quilted bag was embellished with Cooper's initials. "You shouldn't have, I mean you really shouldn't have," Chung said laughing as she received the gift, "It's amazing, I was reading about this and I think Karl Lagerfeld called it 'a very practical piece'. It seems like a buoyancy aid too, you could really pad it out."

Where will Chung wear such a bag? If she heeds to Lagerfeld's suggestion, she will use it as a beach bag. The German designer explained to the Telegraph, "You need space for the beach towel and then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it." At its debut during Paris Fashion Week, the hula hoop bag was presented by a model in a swimsuit.

In the video below, Chung models the purse as any real life person would. The result was just as hilarious and awkward as expected. Watch below:

Either way, Chung still remains a style maven - even with a glittery hula hoop purse.

Fashionista caught up with Chung and spoke about her fashion ventures and her influential style.

The host of Lifetime's "24 Hour Catwalk" says she's working on her first clothing line but that is as much information she is willing to reveal at this time.

When asked about her being used as a reference on "thinspiration boards," Chung responded "Like you can appreciate my style without having to appreciate my weight. It's not actually mutually inclusive. I just get frustrated because, just because I exist in this shape, doesn't mean that I'm like advocating it and being like, 'I look great.'"

Chung also opened up about her self-image, "How do you know I'm not looking in the mirror and going 'I wish I could gain ten pounds?' Which is actually quite often the case." She then added, "Self-esteem, that's something you got to work on yourself. I know for me it's different day to day. So like, just because you're in magazines, doesn't mean you think you're excellent."
