Stacey Dash has not made headlines since getting the axe for her role on VH1's "Single Ladies," but now the actress is the center of discussion for her latest declaration: "Vote Mitt Romney."

The youthful-looking 46-year-old uploaded a Twitter photo of herself wearing a sexy red swimsuit in front of the American Flag. She captioned the image "Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future," and sparked an outrage in the black community.

Thousands of Twitter users expressed their disappointment with the African-American star who has opposed to voting President Barack Obama. Dash's tweet caused such a reaction, that some followers could not believe she would actually vote Romney and that she was hacked. A number of influential black celebrities - most notably, power couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z -have publicly supported the president's reelection campaign. Dash is the first celebrity of color to publicly support the Romney campaign.

Here's some of what the many Twitter users were posting:

"Stacey Dash just made me dislike her." - @marleeizm

"@REALStaceyDash You're an unemployed black woman endorsing@MittRomney. You're voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot." -@iLoveJoeyNoHomo

"Stacey Dash's hit movie was Clueless. How ironic." - @omen

Social-Awareness hip hop artist, Talib Kweli shocked the many outraged Twitter users even more when he tweeted, "Stacey Dash is right. Romney invented Obamacare! #teamstaceydash." He later explained how foolish it was for anyone to allow their political perceptions be swayed or affected by celebrities. "I'm I the only one that finds it hilarious that Stacey Dash supports Romney? Y'all mad? That makes it funnier to me," he tweeted. He followed with, "If you get mad to the point of asking someone to kill theyself cuz u don't agree with their position, guess who just became the crazy one?"

Not all of her followers were upset; some supported her decision and others raised the question of why should she be obligated to vote for President Obama just because she is African-American.

"Kudos to the @REALStaceyDash for fearlessly speaking her mind on the election. Punk rock. Haters can take a walk." - @DLoesch

"Funny thing about "being Black" is, as soon as you say something against Black you are given the guilt speech. #SteelMagnolias #Staceydash" -@_ReMona

"@REALStaceyDash thank you for expressing your opinion and not backing down!" - RedSoxRisa

Dash responded to the strong reactions with, "My humble opinion... EVERYONE is entitled to one."

Mitt Romney has not been too favorable among minorities and the female demographic, but should your genetic makeup be a determining factor for who you vote for? Most of the backlash Dash received from Twitter users were laced with racial issues and barley any political issues. If she was a woman of another race, would she get this much heat for her choice?
