Drew Barrymore and husband Will Kopelman welcomed their first child together - a baby girl - last Wednesday (September 26). The couple released a statement saying that their baby girl is "healthy, happy and welcomed by the whole family." The couple named their baby girl, Olive Barrymore Kopelman.
Interestingly enough, Barrymore voiced a character named Olive in a 1999 TV special "Olive, the Other Reindeer." Another fun fact is that Baby Olive could've been Baby Ruby. In 1995, Barrymore told Rolling Stone that she wanted to have a daughter named Ruby Daffodil someday.
The actress and the art consultant began dating in 2010 and got engaged earlier this year. They tied the knot over the summer on June 2 at Barrymore's Montecito, California home and honeymooned in Big Sur. According to Us Weekly, Barrymore was determined to wed before the baby arrived.
"They have been trying to get pregnant," a source told the magazine. "That's why they got engaged."
The pregnancy may have been a secret to the world but everyone in the couple's close circle knew about the good news. "Everyone knows the baby's coming, so there wasn't much talk about it," the source said of the wedding. "Will said something like, 'I'm excited to marry you. I'm excited to meet the newest member of our family.'"
The 37-year-old actress had been planning on starting a family for a while. Before the world knew she was pregnant, Barrymore revealed that she wanted to have a family with Kopelman. On an interview with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," the actress said, "We'll start with one," she said. "See how it goes and if we could be so blessed...that would be wonderful."
