Jean Paul Gaultier dedicated his spring 2013 to the pop stars of the 1980s.  Just in time for Halloween, Gaultier gave the fashion crowd some splendid ideas for a costume. He dressed his models as Grace Jones, Madonna, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, and other pop icons that linger in your playlist.

Sitting front row were Susanne Bartsch, a nightlife legend famous for her rockin' parties in the Copacabana in NYC and members of KISS - well, members of KISS lookalikes. The atmosphere set the tone for an entertaining time warp of a show.

Karlie Kloss has to be the best Boy George impersonator the world has ever seen and Ophelie Rupp was Madonna in her "Desperately Seeking Susan" era while Ginta Lapina embodied the queen of pop's Blonde Ambition phase.  Joan Smalls with large hoop earrings, a slick back ponytail, and a sultry black ensemble had a striking resemblance to Sade. And who could miss the David Bowie reference with Franzi Mueller wearing a "Ziggy Stardust" inspired jumpsuit?

Although, it was a fun experience guessing which eighties star a model was channeling, critics claim that there was no relevance to today's style. Nevertheless retro colorful threads and androgynous styles are always runway favorites. Fashion forward? No, fashion backwards.
