During Paris Fashion Week, Nicola Formichetti unveiled his spring 2013 Mugler collection along with Lady Gaga's gangsta new track "Cake." The song was originally teased as a fan recorded contest entry. Gaga's pal and producer DJ White Shadow released "Cake" with the pitch turned down super low, making Lady Gaga sound like Mister Gaga. However, it the unedited version made its way to the web revealing that the so-called contest winner was actually the mother monster herself.
Formichetti must have been a fan of the edited track - it was featured in his show. In honor of his super cool collection which featured pastel colored leather pants and Gaga's debut hip-hip song, the creative director spent two days editing a fashion music video (he even considered skipping out on Anna Dello Russo's party just to finish the vid). The video is really just the whole Mugler spring 2013 show with Gaga's "Cake" playing as the soundtrack.
Mugler foresees a glossy and bright summer for 2013. Sculptured fits with full skirts and sharp edged blouses were also another highlight. Formichetti and designer Sébastien Peigné were inspired by an abundance of cultures. The collection traveled from the humid Mexico City to the jungles of South East Asia. The horizon printed tops were like a beautiful hazy mirage on fashion island. Along with Gaga's rap track and Mugler's spring 2013, Formichetti also introduced his first handbags. "I never thought I'd make handbags!" he told Style.com after the show. "But it was something I really got into. I started reading all of these handbag blogs, and really saw what they meant to people."© 2013 Fashion & Style.com All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
