Rihanna Releases New Single "Diamonds" (Photo : Twitter)

Early Wednesday morning, Rihanna released her first single off of her highly anticipated seventh album which is currently dubbed as "Rihanna 7." Her new song, "Diamonds" is understood to stem from her "We Found Love" lyrics, "Yellow diamonds in the light..." Rihanna also titled her upcoming tour "Diamonds;" she kicks off her tour in Buffalo, NY in March 2013.

After the release of the track, Rihanna revealed via Twitter that a special lyric from the song was dedicated to her late grandmother, Gran Gran Dolly.

"We're beautiful like Diamonds in the sky," Rihanna tweeted along with the photo of her and Gran Gran Dolly.

The song isn't the only dedication Rihanna has honored her grandmother with; she also got a chest tattoo of Goddess Isis to signify the strength Gran Gran Dolly has given her.

"Diamonds" is already a hit. Fans praised the singer for experimenting with her voice. Rihanna uses a deeper tone for this single.

The latest track is an uplifting song with an upbeat and hypnotic yet not overwhelmingly pop sound. "Diamonds" is about love, inspiration, and finding peace with someone special.

Perhaps her rumored rekindled romance with Chris Brown also has something to do with this song.

"I knew that we'd become one right away/a right away/at first sight I felt the energy of sun rays/ I saw the life inside your eyes."

Interestingly enough, back in November 2009 in a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, Rihanna recounted what happened earlier that year when Brown assaulted her. She said that her then-boyfriend had "no soul in his eyes." Rihanna said all she kept thinking was, "When is it going to stop? When is it going to stop? He had no soul in his eyes. Just blank. He was clearly blacked-out. There was no person when I looked at him."

Over the summer, Rihanna opened up to Oprah in a candid televised interview and revealed that she has forgiven Brown. In fact, she even admitted to still being in love with him. The two pop stars are now publicly displaying a friendship and are hinting to a possible rekindled romance. Rihanna seems to have found the life and soul back in her former lover's eyes.

Rihanna's new album is expected to drop in November.
