Beyonce was set to star in Clint Eastwood's film "A Star is Born" but now since the two stars have strong opposing political views, that movie plan may be no more.
Beyonce was said to have snagged the role late 2010, however because of her pregnancy in the summer of 2011, reports claimed that Eastwood would hold off production until the singer gave birth. Warner Bros studios was hoping to start production on Eastwood's musical remake by February 2012.
There have been no reports or photographic evidence of Beyonce actually filming for the movie since she has given birth to her daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January 2012. The fierce diva has been busy supporting her husband Jay-Z at his concerts and supporting President Barack Obama's reelection campaign.
Eastwood, on the other hand, is an avid supporter of Obama's opponent, Mitt Romney. The legendary actor's infamous "invisible Obama chair" speech has caused him a lot of backlash (and hilarious memes). "And I think if you just step aside and Mr. Romney can kind of take over. You can maybe still use a plane," said Eastwood at the RNC.
Beyonce and Jay-Z recently hosted a fundraising dinner for the president and Beyonce has publicly expressed her admiration for First Lady Michelle Obama.
Eastwood is no longer sure if he wants Beyonce to headline the film as originally planned. In a recent interview with E! News, he said "She's great, I don't know if she's available, but we've talked a little bit."
Music's hottest couple has gotten real tight with the White House. Beyonce's allegiance to the president may have caused her to drop out of the film. It's unlikely for Eastwood to truly believe another singer/actress could headline the film any better than the singer, given her successful history in musical films.
"A Star is Born" is a tale of a woman with great musical aspirations who falls in love with a man that is an established superstar. However, during their relationship her career booms as his declines causing a rift in their romance.
As for who will be the leading man, there was never one particular actor attached to the film. Almost every A-list actor from Will Smith to Christian Bale has been considered for the part. Now, Bradley Cooper is in discussions. "We were talking to Bradley Cooper," he said. "We've talked to several people, and we probably won't address that one till next year. Early next year," Eastwood told E! News.
Beyoncé would've followed in the footsteps of actresses Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland, and Barbra Streisand. Who else do you think can star in the role?
