Over the years, Paris Hilton has been overshadowed by the reign of other wealthy starlets like former BFFs Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan. Now the blond heiress is making headlines for making outrageous homophobic comments.

"Gay guys are the horniest people in the world ... they're disgusting," she reportedly told her gay male friend in the backseat of an NYC cab on Sept. 7. "Dude, most of them probably have AIDS."

According to RadarOnline.com, the homophobic slurs came about after Hilton's friend told her about an app called Grindr, a popular social app that gay men can use to locate sexual partners.

"I would be so scared if I were a gay guy," Hilton continued. "You'll like, die of AIDS."

The conversation was recorded by the cab driver.  Hilton and her friend, who is a model, were on their way to a show during New York Fashion Week.

The 31-year-old's rep is now claiming that the heiress did not mean for her comments to be so negative and that there is a real positive message behind her statements.

"Paris Hilton's comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease. The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex," said the rep. "It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community."
