R. Kelly makes history as the most nominated artist ever at the Soul Train Awards.
The 45-year-old rapper is up for two awards – the Ashford & Simpson songwriter’s award, as well as album of the year, Soul Train announced on Wednesday.
In total, R. Kelly has had 21 Soul Train nominations in his entire career that dates back to 1989.
The history maker R. Kelly has produced and remixed songs for dozens of artists like Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears and The Isley Brothers.

Having sold 38.5 million albums, R. Kelly is recognized as one of the best-selling music artists in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The annual award show honors the best artists in Black music and entertainment. In this year’s Soul Train Awards, Usher dominates the awards with five nominations: Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best R&B/Soul Male Artist.
Other nominees include Nicki MInaj, Emeli Sande, Beyonce, Rihanna and Chris Brown.
The Soul Train Awards will be taped on November 8 at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, and will be aired on November 25 on BET and Centric.
