Denim

Many designers were inspired by the '90s flair, so of course denim would make a frequent appearance on the runway. Other designer collections that contributed to the denim trend include Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, and Tommy Hilfiger.

Loose and Slouchy Chic

Diane von Furstenberg dresses her lady in airy, comfy, yet chic fits. Spring 2013 doesn't have to be all skin-tight. Rag & Bone, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler, Suno, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Yigal Azrouel offered some flowy fits too.

Mixed Prints

Marc by Marc Jacobs sports the funky mix-match trend. This trend was also spotted on the runways of Joseph Altuzarra, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, and Suno.

Lace

Tadashi Shoji presented a lace and ethereal collection. The romantic trend was also offered by Chadwick Bell, BCBG Max Azria, Behnaz Sarafpour.

Sheer Romance

Continuing with the romantic trend, Jason Wu goes sheer. Lacoste, Narciso Rodriguez, Thakoon, Proenza Schouler, Reed Krakoff, and Vera Wang also designed stunning sheer pieces for spring 2013.

Below the Knee

Lacoste brings down the hem for the warm season. Other designers that favor the lady-like length include Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Victoria Beckham, Belstaff, and Derek Lam.

Black and White

Spring 2013 will be a very muted season, as far as color goes. Black-and-White was a standout trend at Ralph Lauren. Other collections that displayed the simple and timeless colorway include Rachel Zoe, Marc Jacobs, and Diane von Furstenberg.

Christian Siriano offers soft baby hues for the summer season. Pastel replaces bold colors for Nanette Lepore, Reem Acra, Carolina Herrera, and Zang Toi.

Leather Comeback

The leather trend returns to NYC. Derek Lam put a fun blue twist on the trend. The sleek and cool fabric was also seen in the collections of Charlotte Ronson, DKNY, Marissa Web, Tracy Reese, and Tibi.

Sexy Cutouts

Alexander Wang wants a sexy spring 2013. Cut outs were a major trend this NYFW. Other designers who were snipping away include BCBG Max Azria, Diane von Furstenberg, Hervé Léger, Charlotte Ronson, and Cushnie et Ochs.

Stripes

This was probably the biggest trend of New York Fashion Week. While other designers revamped the traditional print, Tommy Hilfiger kept it pure and simple. Stripes were also spotted in the spring 2013 collections of Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Emerson, Altuzarra, Helmut Lang, and Marimekko.
