After publishing Kate Middleton’s topless photos, Closer magazine’s editor shows no signs of remorse, and has rather fully defended the scandalous pictures, calling them “joyful.”
As if the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge have not been offended enough, Closer magazine’s editor Laurence Pieau defended the topless photos of Kate that were published on the French gossip magazine on Friday.
“These photos are not in the least shocking. They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches,” Pieau told AFP.

The photographer reportedly shot the photo of Kate Middleton baring her breasts under the sun, using a long-lens camera, over a half mile away from the private estate in Provence, France where William and Kate spent their vacation last week.
“The terrace was completely visible from the road,” Pieau told French radio station Europe 1.
“They were not being careless but they were not making any special effort to conceal themselves.”
There was “nothing degrading” about the published photos, Pieau said, adding that the photographs were “joyful,” accompanied by “extremely soft” texts.
“We must not be too dramatic about this,” the editor told the radio station.
“These photos will go round the world. We are happy to have them and we won't be the only ones to publish them.”
Were the descriptions accompanying the photos soft and considerate in any way? Judge it for yourself.
“Discover the incredible pictures of the future Queen of England as you’ve never seen,” Closer magazine described of Kate Middleton's topless photos.
“The Duchess of Cambridge topless on the terrace of a guest house in the Luberon! OMG!”
"Harry started the fashion: these days the Windsors take their clothes off," the French magazine said. The magazine also showed a photo of the Duchess peeling down her bikini bottom as the Duke rubs sun lotion on her back.
"The last time we saw Kate and William on a balcony it was for their wedding. But they had more clothes on," a caption reads.
"People always say she doesn't need to dress up to look good. Well ... Kate is proving this," goes another.
Pieau and the photographers involved in taking the photos, could receive a year in prison and a maximum fine of 45,000 euros, according to The Daily Mail.
