Jessica Simpson's photo of her 4-month-old daughter in yellow bikini sparked backlash.
Cute though it may be, showing off the picture of Simpson's new baby Maxwell Drew Johnson wearing a bikini wasn't the wisest thing to do, considering the recent outrage over baby bikini onesie.
Jessica Simpson appeared on Katie Couric's talk show "Katie" with the controversial picture of her daughter wearing a homemade crochet bikini over a diaper.
"She's posing!" the 32-year-old singer said upon showing the bikini baby photo.
"It's her very first time to put on a bikini."
"Motherhood is a dream," Simpson told Couric.
"It really is absolutely amazing. [Maxwell] had her first flight yesterday. Did not sleep! She didn't cry. She just wanted to babble."
"It is very disturbing to see a young baby presented to the world wearing a bikini," Claude Knights, director of Kidscape told US Weekly. Kidscape is a charity organization in England devoted to preventing children from bullying and sexual abuse,
"Celebrity choices carry great influence, as can be seen by the manner in which their accessories and behaviors are copied widely. It is to be hoped that parents will understand that 'baby bikinis' are totally inappropriate, and that they contribute to the sexualization and commercialization of childhood. We should not be compromising the sanctity of our children's early years."
"Sharing pictures of your baby in a bikini with three million TV viewers, as Jessica did when she appeared on an American chat show? That is nothing short of inexcusable," Tanith Carey, a writer of The Daily Mail criticized Simpson's choice in a full article.
"A cute-faced baby in a halterneck bikini, her nappy encased in the tiny knickers, leans back in what can only be described as a disturbingly adult pose, her chubby hand placed on her creased little baby thighs. Even more creepily, there's an adult male hand coming in from out of the shot, posing the helpless tot in the style of a centrefold model."
What do you think? Did Jessica Simpson go too far, or is everyone overreacting?

Given the risks that “Elementary” has been taking with the Sherlock Holmes mythology, converting not one but two main characters from men into women, it seems surprising that they chose to keep Sherlock British.
