Morgan Freeman’s death rumor has been lingering on the internet, though the 75-year-old actor has been confirmed to be very much alive and well.
Freeman became another victim of celebrity death hoaxes last week, creating much buzz on the social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Facebook page “R.I.P Morgan Freeman” has gained over 840,000 likes to date, rising steadily though the death rumor has been long dismissed.
“Morgan Freeman is only dead temporarily , God wanted him to narrate some things up in heaven,” a post made on Friday stated.
The “Bruce Almighty” star was said to have died from a car crash.
On Necropedia.org, a post reading “Morgan Freeman is dead” still declares his fake death.
“Morgan Freeman, born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, was an American actor. He died on September 9, 2012, at the age of 75,” says the site.
“Tributes have poured in from across the world.”
Sunday, Freeman’s reps told E! Online that the actor has not died.
"Morgan is alive and well and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet," Freeman's representatives said in a statement.
Monday, “Morgan Freeman’s death” emerged as a trending topic again, spreading like wildfire on Twitter. Some people are, surprisingly, still confused.
“Omg Morgan Freeman died today! So sad!! I love him!” @_sarahjennings
