Has Morgan Freeman died in 2012? The 75-year-old actor who has played God and become a legend may have much to say if he meets his maker, but Morgan Freeman’s death turned out to be the latest hoax.

Freeman has joined the long list of celebrities who have been “killed” on the internet when the “Bruce Almighty” star was said to have died from a car crash in September, 2012.

Facebook page “R.I.P Morgan Freeman” surfaced Wednesday, and has garnered almost 70,000 likes so far.

The lesson here? Don't ever blindly trust what's on the Internet.

"Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax," a rep for Freeman told E! Online.

On Necropedia.org, a post reading “Morgan Freeman is dead” still declares his fake death.

“Morgan Freeman, born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, was an American actor. He died on September 9, 2012, at the age of 75,” says the site.

“Tributes have poured in from across the world.”

As usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.

“Did I just wake up to find out Morgan Freeman is dead!? MORGANFREEMAN!? The first Black President aka Black God MorganFreeman!? WTF! RIP” – Daryll Lloyd

“My heart sank wen I read that Morgan Freeman had died! Ive gonfrom upset to ANGER that it was a sick joke!!” – Charlotte Mann

“When Morgan Freeman die, the world ends.” – Steph

“You all are stupid if you think Morgan Freeman died. The voice ofGod would not just go out like that.” – The Tweetin’ Hero

“you're a complete idiot if you think morgan freeman actually died” – Niamh Barrett

“Cursed be the man who starts a Morgan Freeman death hoax.” – Phil

“Thank goodness Morgan Freeman's still with us. Who could kill"God" anyway?” – Joe O’Connor

Freeman’s death hoax follows the recent string of internet murders that virtually killed Bill Cosby, Bill Nye, Rihanna, Eddie Murphy, 50 Cent among others.

This is not the first time Freeman faced a death hoax. The acting legend has been killed off on the Internet in 2010.
