In a recent interview with V Magazine, Kim Kardashian revealed what is perhaps her greatest goal - to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame. Now, just days after sharing her plan, a rep from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is letting Kardashian know that it'll never happen.
The 31-year-old wants to "break the mold" by being the first reality TV star recognized on the famous Hollywood strip. "I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I'm so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want," said Kardashian.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce refuses to grant non-talent celebrities a star. Although Kardashian has become quite the media mogul, the group won't even entertain her proposition. "Part of criteria in being honored is receiving awards such as Emmys, SAG Awards, Oscars, etc. in the category of television, live-stage performance or motion pictures," a chamber of commerce rep told The Hollywood Reporter. "They have to have a career in the business of acting for five years or more." Kardashian's only real acting experience has been as a guest star on "Drop Dead Diva" and a role in Tyler Perry's upcoming film "The Marriage Counselor."
In her interview, the reality star noted that reality TV programming has replaced soap operas. Kardashian takes on the role as the advocate for all reality TV. She defends her genre by stating that it is one of the highest forms of entertainment today. "It's always funny to me when people say that I'm famous for being famous. I think it's fascinating, because [reality TV is] still entertainment," she said. She even went on to compare the particular career path to the evolution of rap music. She said, "When rap music first came out, people were like, 'We don't understand this, what is this, it's just a fad.' But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well."
To her credit, Kardashian has made great strides in her career. The star was once publicly ridiculed for the leak of a sex tape. Kardashian used all the negative attention to her advantage and filmed her now high-earning reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." Through the series, Kardashian shows who she really is and her family life, humanizing herself and becoming even a role model to millions of fans. She and her family are now household names and have become moguls in music, entertainment, television, and fashion.
Despite the constant criticism, Kardashian remains relevant and hikes up the celebrity hierarchy consistently. The now A-list star is dating hip hop heavyweight Kanye West, who is also "bettering" her image with a high-fashion makeover.
According to Forbes, Kardashian is now the second highest-paid "actress" on television, having made $18 million in 2011. Sofia Vergara stole the reality star's number one spot this time around, making $20 million last year.
Nevertheless, the Hollywood rep continued, "Can't really say if reality stars will ever be eligible. Not on our radar right now." With Kardashian and plenty other reality stars becoming household names and participating in what would become legendary series, (this even includes the "Jersey Shore" -- no matter what, that cast left a major impact on pop culture) should reality TV get Hollywood recognition?
