Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova reveals at a post-match news conference at the U.S. Open that she and professional basketball player Sasha Vujacic had ended their engagement several months ago.

Maria Sharapova is arguably one of the most popular, fashionable and best looking female tennis player of current times. However, this player likes to keep her personal life off courts and lets her talent do the talking. So it came as a shocker when she revealed at a post-match news conference at the U.S. Open that she and professional basketball player Sasha Vujacic had quietly ended their engagement several months ago.

"It's been since the end of spring," Sharapova told reporters (via E! News). "I was waiting for someone to actually ask me that question."

"I have never really been the person to announce things. I never announced when we were together or never announced we were engaged," she explained at the conference. "I never have in any of my previous relationships, as well."

"It was a really nice period of time for both of us, but our career schedules just made it extremely difficult to see each other with the traveling and especially his career move to Turkey. But we have a tremendous amount of respect for each other," the Russian beauty said. "I still would love to call him as a friend. We spent really great years together."

Sharapova's announcement was not the only shocker at the U.S. Open this year. American Tennis player Andy Roddick also announced his retirement after the on-going tournament.

I just feel like it's time. I don't know that I'm healthy enough or committed enough to go another year," Roddick told reporters."I've always wanted to, in a perfect world, finish at this event."

"On some big moments this year, I think I've known I was done," Roddick said. "Walking off at Wimbledon, I felt like I knew. Playing here, I don't know what it was, but I couldn't imagine myself being here in another year.

"Whatever my faults were, I've always felt like I've never done anything halfway. This is probably the first time in my career that I can sit here and say, I'm not sure I can put everything into it physically and emotionally. I don't know if I want to disrespect the game by coasting home."

For those who weren't aware Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova for a while in 2005 to 2006.
