Band members A.J. MCLean, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and Richardson are busy recording a new album, the first with all the band members in seven years.

Richardson tells Good Morning America, "I'm a person that always follows my heart and follows my gut and my heart said now's the time. It just felt right. I feel inspired to make music again with these guys and you know, when I left, it had nothing at all to do with our relationship... It just had to do with me just needing to be inspired, so I had to step away for a while."

The boy band is also gearing up t celebrate their 20th Anniversary next year and are planning a cruise concert all the way to the Bahamas next October.

Richardson says, "2013 is gonna be a big year for us, it's our 20th anniversary. We're in the studio right now working on an album, so we're gonna have that ready hopefully by the beginning of next year."

And McLean adds: "And also, next year, just so you guys know, there will be a BSB cruise next year with all five (bandmates)."

Backstreet Boys are not the only band that saw a reunion this year. The London Olympics 2012 closing ceremony witnessed the reunion of popular girl band Spice Girls.

According to reports, the Spice Girls didn't disappoint their fans at the Olympics with their much awaited reunion performance.

Before the concert Victoria Beckham tweeted a picture of an amazing sparkly microphone with the caption, "Look what I found! x VB". It was the microphone she used during the group's reunion tour in 2007 .
