"Pretty Little Liars" fans got the shock of their life with the reveal of the latest "A" - Toby!

Toby has been missing from the past few episodes and Spoby fans were excited about his return this episode.  Spencer and Toby even made love for the first time in this episode. How could he be part of the A-Team? Say it isn't so Toby!

If you think about it, there were some clues that hinted that he would betray Spencer:

"I'm right where I'm supposed to be." Toby said this to Spencer in the summer finale. He returned right after Mona escaped from the asylum. What a coincidence.

His face after hugging Spencer in summer finale. Did you notice that worried look he had on his face as he and Spencer hugged each other goodbye? After he told Spencer that he would stay in town, she hugged him and he had a very guilty look on his face.

He's always missing. Of course, someone who is hardly around will have all the time in the world to play with scary dolls, plot murders, and send evil texts. Maybe all of the Spoby breakups were strategically caused by him so that he can break away from Spencer to have more "A" time.  Last season, Toby went MIA for a while and then coincidentally reappeared the night Mona was revealed to be "A." Also, he was the one who found Dr. Sullivan - very random.

He was always strange. Besides having an affair with his own sister and being a peeping-tom, Toby was always had something peculiar about him. He hardly attended school and he never had friends. The loner vibe used to be sexy but now that he's "A" it's pretty creepy.

He left after learning about the new "A."  After Spencer refused to share more info on the new "A," Toby was frustrated with her secrets and left town. He also wasn't too thrilled about Spencer working with her half-brother, Jason.

He lives alone. Toby is a loner and has his own place. He is home could also be "A's" scary lair.

He was one of the last people to see Allison the day she died. This fact made him the prime "A" suspect back in season 1.

Let's say that Toby isn't as sinister as he seems. What if he actually infiltrated the A-team to help Spencer? Toby made it a big deal that Spencer was hiding so much from him.  Spencer was only trying to protect him by keeping "A" information to herself. However, the protective boyfriend (or so we thought) told her that he would get to the bottom of the "A" madness no matter what.

The shocking revelation.

If Toby was part of the A-team from the beginning, as the girls originally suspected, he may have had a change of heart over time. That love between he and Spencer just can't be fake. When Ian tried to kill Spencer in the bell tower, "A" (who may have been Toby) saved her life. After he and Spencer got closer, Toby stopped hanging with his evil sister, who is also the liar's enemy, Jenna. Toby also started spilling secrets about Jenna like her involvement with Garrett Reynolds and the fact that she was faking her blindness. Also, in the finale episode he called Emily using the scary "A" voice telling her to leave the cabin before Nate returned. If she had listened, she would've been safe but then Paige probably would've been killed. 

Whether he joined "A" before or after he fell in love with Spencer, this could be his way of helping the liars.
