The LAPD detectives are reportedly investigating Lindsay Lohan's latest crime allegation - jewelry theft.

The 26-year-old starlet and her assistant Gavin Doyle are the prime suspects in the teft of $100,000 worth of watches and sunglasses, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Lohan was at the Hollywood Hills home of Sam Magid a week ago, when Magid called the LAPD and reported the theft. Lohan is said to have visited the house frequently, including at an all-night house party last week Sunday.

However, there is now a change in the story. Magid has reportedly backtracked and now says nothing was ever stolen. Nevertheless, cops are not closing out the investigation becauste they believe they have witnesses who can attest to Lohan and Doyle as the thieves.

The LAPD detectives contacted Lohan's lawyers for questioning but they rejected the request.

It is unclear why Magid would change his story so soon.

The latest allegation isn't too good for Lohan. The actress is currently on probabtion for another theft case involving the necklace at a Venice jewelry store. If she is found guilty of Magid's accusation, she could face jail time.
