Last week, Kim Kardashian and photographer Nick Knight revealed a beautiful black-and-white shot of Kardashian for a V Magazine editorial.

Kardashian stuns in a series of all-black ensembles as her long lustrous hair flows on the fan-blown set.

Kardashian takes another go at high-fashion. The reality star is finally getting the recognition she has always desired. Renowned fashion photographers and editors are going against the grain (allegedly led by fashion leaders like Anna Wintour) and are exploring the media sensation. What makes Kim Kardashian so famous? It is this enigma that keeps her relevance thriving and what now has the fashion heads turning and paying attention.

Knight was intrigued by Kardashian after noticing her style transformation after she began dating rapper/fashion designer Kanye West. Gone are the days of her signature skin-tight dresses, heavy eye make-up, and long hair extensions. Kardashian now prides herself on being more natural and wearing more refined pieces - dressing more for the art of fashion rather than sex appeal.

West raided his girlfriend's closet, cleaning out everything that had become her signature style and replaced them with racks of Givenchy, Lanvin, and Celine. Now Kardashian wears bust-covering tops, structured blazers, and leather pants (in which she wears to match with her boyfriend). She also prides herself on not wearing false lashes anymore. In promoting her and her sisters' first cosmetic brand, Khroma, Kardashian uploaded a photo of herself wearing blue eyeliner from the line. In the Instagram post she promotes her new beauty lifestyle with a hashtag #nofakelashes.

"I met Nick in London," Kim tells the magazine. "He came to one of my boyfriend's concerts. He took out his iPhone and snapped a picture of Kanye and me, and even on a little iPhone camera he captured the moment so perfectly. We hit it off and we were like, we need to do a real shoot and not just a shoot on an iPhone!" And so the unprecedented editorial came about.

In the article, Kardashian discusses how West influenced her style, how she now embraces privacy, and the revelation of her fashion past.

On finally attending Paris Fashion Week:
"Paris is one of my favorite cities and it's always been a dream of mine to be out there during fashion week, so I was just kind of soaking it all in. [...] Spending more time in Paris and traveling has broadened my fashion horizon and my palette of what I want to wear."

On simplifying her look:
"It came from me taking time away at the end of last year [during the time she filed for divorce from Kris Humphries] and really simplifying my life. [...] I went and stayed at my mom's house for like four months, and I didn't bring any makeup, high heels, or anything. I just brought sweats, workout clothes, and pajamas. It was so refreshing to me!"

On wearing lighter makeup:
"I love makeup. I love the glitz and the glam, but I think there are just different ways to go about it now."

Is Kanye West the reason for her style change?
"Obviously having a stylish boyfriend who has helped introduce me to things and opened up my vision has been an inspiration and has helped me change it up a little bit and become more sophisticated."

On being private (on Kim's terms of course - Twitter deactivation is a deal breaker):
"Before, I wouldn't have valued privacy as much as I do now [...] I think anyone I'm in a relationship with can really appreciate the things I've gone through to bring me here, because I probably wouldn't have fought for that privacy before."

Did West tell her to be more private?
"Being with someone who's more private but who understands public life, we have an understanding. It's a good balance."

On how she was working in fashion before fame:
"I think that some people think we opened our store, D-A-S-H, on the show, but when we got the show offer we were thinking of it as a way to promote our store. Styling and fashion have always been my number one job, or obviously my first passion."

On how she views her old style:
"I look at my wax figure and I'm like, Oh my God, I would never dress like that. But it's kind of cool."

On her being famous for being famous:
"It's always funny to me when people say that I'm famous for being famous. I think it's fascinating, because [reality TV is] still entertainment, you know?"

She compares her fame to Kanye West's career:
"It reminds me of rap music. When rap music first came out, people were like, 'We don't understand this, what is this, it's just a fad.' But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well."

On her Hollywood goals:
"I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I'm so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold."

Whether or not Kardashian achieves that Hollywood goal, she will still get a taste of Tinseltown with her upcoming role in Tyler Perry's movie, "The Marriage Counselor." Kardashian, ironically, will play a marriage therapist. "I shouldn't be giving marriage advice to anyone!" admits Kardashian.

Speaking of marriage, Kardashian and West have been rumored to be tying the knot soon. Like all famous couples, they are the center of wedding rumors, baby rumors, and even breakup rumors. Kardashian was spotted with a special ring that represents the famous relationship. No, it wasn't an engagement ring; it was a gold plated "Kimye" ring. Kardashian posted the photo of her ring of devotion on Instagram. However, the ring was worn by one of her best friends, Joyce Bonelli.

"OMG gotta love @joycebonelli !!! I need this ring!" she wrote along with her post.
