Why hire a model when you can model your own fashion line yourself? That was the prerogative for Nicole Richie when the socialite-turned-designer chose to front her own ad campaign for her Macy's Impulse collection.

Richie designed a '70s boho-chic inspired collection for Macy's with a reasonable price range of $49-$149. The anticipated collection is set to hit stores September 12 but the ad campaign has every fashionista making their shopping checklist.

The former reality star dons her best pieces including trendy printed dresses, full flirty skirts, maxi dresses, silky blouses, and leather leggings. The styling is very artsy with a dash of edginess.

To help shoppers execute the looks like the celeb, Richie decided to dish on how to get the look right. She suggests accessorizing. "I love to layer jewelry, so that is how I see it - tons of layered necklaces," the star tells PEOPLE StyleWatch. "In terms of shoes, any style goes! You can dress these pieces up with heels, go casual with boots."

There are many classic pieces as well as wardrobe staples in the collection. Richie revealed her favorite piece, "I did this faux fur and leather jacket - it's just really cool."  She continued, "As a shopper, I tend to go for statement jackets and coats - that one piece that is going to make any outfit look and feel special. You can wear this jacket with shorts and a tee, over a long maxi dress - I would say the options are endless with the cropped style."

Richie caters to the fashionistas of any budget. "I wanted to focus on that Macy's girl and make it extremely accessible and affordable, but have it still be 'me' at the same time," She recently told The Cut.

The socialite is happy about her path in the fashion world. She is building her empire at steady pace expanding to different markets each time - she is currently readying her debut fragrance. Richie claims that if she had to be anything other than a designer she would be "a backup dancer for Britney Spears. Or a hairstylist. I'm really good at doing hair." Well, her hair is almost always flawless. Perhaps a haircare line is in the future for her brand?
