Condoleezza Rice makes her fashion debut as a model. The former Secretary of State is taking a break from politics and focusing on a more stylish arena.
The NFL has launched their women's apparel ad campaign featuring Rice donning a fitted Cleveland Browns jersey. Rice is an avid fan of the team, she claims that she "never miss[es] a game or chance to show off [her] team colors!" Interestingly enough, she was once engaged to a football player in the 70s -- this football modeling gig isn't so random after all.

The 57-year-old sports fan is joined in the ad by Ivanka Trump, Serena Williams, and other famous football loving ladies. Each ad features a woman sporting a jersey representing her favor team. The ad is taglined with "It's my team." NFL's director of apparel, Rhiannon Madden explains the female empowerment behind the caption; she says "It's your team - not your guy's team." Madden continued, "We want to show that you can be a [football] fan by what you wear to work, going to the gym or out at night with girlfriends."
According to the New York Times, women make up a full 45% of the NFL's overall fan base-and the NFL wants to cater to the women with fashionable sports gear-- fitted jerseys are a great start. The women's apparel line has even more in store. Couture designer Georgina Chapman of the luxurious brand Marchesa has teamed up with the NFL for a limited-edition shirt to be released on September 5.
This is great news for female football fans; however, nothing can replace a boyfriend's oversized jersey in the brisk autumn season. What do you think?
