There's finally an explanation behind Katy Perry's sudden fancy of the average-girl style sans wildly colored hair and wigs. The "Teenage Dream" singer is playing her position as the face of UK-based hair-care brand ghd.
Perry stars as the brand's it-girl for third time. The singer, who has noticeably been sporting simple black hairdos recently, flaunts her lustrous raven locks in a vintage looking black-and-white ad. The campaign, shot by Ellen Von Unwerth, features the candid moments of Perry on set.

The smiling pop star dons an array of fabulous hairdos styled by renowned hairstylist Danilo. "It's a pleasure working with Katy," said Danilo. "She's a young, vibrant artist who is really OK about being confident and seeing herself in different ways - extreme, vulnerable, kooky, sexy, expensive looking but playful. She's a beautiful woman so it's inspirational." Perry is shown rocking retro short bangs while playing a game of chess and sporting a long and strong ponytail while admiring her own reflection in front of a vanity.
Another side of Perry is revealed through the ads. The woman who once wore a whipped cream spewing bra and a blue wig actually has a demure side. "It was fun to go a more natural route after playing characters in my last ghd campaign," Perry said in a release. "Ellen captured both the playful and chic looks amazingly well."
The sophisticated Perry is nothing short of down to earth. The brand notes that as the shoot wrapped, Perry played hostess and served champagne to the whole crew.
Perry returns to her former brunette pinup girl days when she released her debut single "I Kissed a Girl." Do you prefer this tamed look?
