Miley Cyrus’ dramatic haircut managed to garner overwhelming attention from fans, stirring controversy among fans and causing people to allege that Cyrus donated her hair to cancer charity.
Sunday afternoon, Cyrus sent a series of cryptic tweets leading up to her new, controversial hairstyle – a extra-short, platinum pixie cut.
Amidst fans’ protests, Cyrus tweeted off her determination to say good-bye to her trademark bun,
"if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. my hair is attached to my head no one else's and it's going bye bye :)"

Miley Cyrus' stylist Chris McMillan then took up scissors, and it was too late -
"Good bye bun. Stay tuned. @ NYC!" McMillan tweeted with link to a Instagram photo of him about to chop off the bun.
The former Disney starlet was very much satisfied with the drastic transformation of her hair, sending a series of photos to Twitter, and even changing the profile photo on her Twitter account.
"feeling so happy in my skin," Cyrus tweeted.
“someone just told me im prettier than Miley Cyrus,” she said later.
Fans' reactions to the drastic change are, inevitably, mixed.
"Miley Cyrus new haircut looks nothing like Twiggy's. Looks like someone threw her under a lawnmower. Its not even cut straight. :/" @FuzzyRexx tweeted.
"Hold up.. that picture of the blonde emo punk I've seen 20 times today is actually Miley Cyrus??" @fromthafture expressed his astonishment.
"Miley Cyrus' new look is worse than Anakin Skywalker's after his lava facial on Mustafar," @DeathStarPR said.
While Cyrus did not provide the destination of her bun, some websites and fans alike have alleged that the 19-year-old starlet has donated her hair to cancer charity.
“There’s nothing we can do now. Miley already donated her hair to a cancer charity. Well, I guess she could take it back but believe me, yanking a wig off a little bald cancer kid doesn’t go over too well,” The Blemish says.
“Miley Cyrus donated her hair to a Cancer charity? Omg. That girl is so beautiful on the inside and the out. I have so much respect for her,” @obeynialler tweeted.
“Miley Cyrus donated her hair to a Cancer charity. And you're calling her "ugly". Trust me, she's more beautiful than you,” @OfficialCANCER tweeted.
“Miley Cyrus cut her hair to raise money for cancer . Before you judge. Learn the facts . Cause half of y'all bald head for free,” @OmarSlaterMusic tweeted.
"Miley Cyrus donated her hair to Locs of Love...shut up hating on her unless you're willing to do the same.." says @hello_katie32.
A post on Examiner.com described how a teen mother Kailyn Lowry has been inspired by Miley Cyrus to donate hair.
“Kailyn is known for having her own beautiful locks. In fact, when a fan told her she should cut her mane and donate it to cancer patients, she replied that she will, but just not yet,” reads the post.
“It seems Miley Cyrus may have inspired Lowry to donate her hair as well.”
It is unclear as to where the allegation began.
If Miley Cyrus really did donate her hair to cancer charity, would that ease fans’ outrage over her new, unfamiliar look?
